Principal

Michael LeMoyne

Mr. LeMoyne graduated from the State University of New York at Oswego in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education, with a grades 7-9 extension in Middle School Science.  In 2004, he earned his Master’s Degree in Education at SUNY Brockport and a year later completed his coursework in Educational Administration, thereby earning a Certificate of Advanced Study.

In 1996, Mr. LeMoyne began his classroom teaching career and continued to teach 9th grade Earth Science and coach at the high school level until 2005.  His first administrative assignment was as a Director of Athletics in a school district south of Rochester, New York.  After three years in that role, he became an Assistant Principal at a suburban high school outside of Rochester.  In 2011, Mr. LeMoyne and his family relocated to the Atlanta area after he accepted a position at Alpharetta High School as their Curriculum Assistant Principal.

Mr. LeMoyne’s duties at Alpharetta included the supervision of English/Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, and Fine Arts.  He also oversaw the administration of the Advanced Placement program, and has worked in two schools to begin to establish Positive Behavioral Supports and Interventions (a framework for developing an effective framework for positive behavior).  In his time as an educator, Mr. LeMoyne has developed a passion for learning, and a deep appreciation for the challenging but rewarding work of the classroom teacher.  He also understands, values, and works to cultivate positive relationships between the school and the students and families we serve.  

Mr. LeMoyne was honored and humbled to have been selected as the principal of Hopewell Middle School in June 2013.  His vision is to create a culture of learning and excellence throughout our school community, where the emphasis is not just on achievement, but on the growth and development of each individual.
