Amy Cousin
Amy Cousin is a graduate of LaGrange College where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Middle Grades Education. She began her teaching career in 2004 at Heard County Middle School teaching sixth grade social studies and language arts as well as coaching basketball and softball. It was during her second year of teaching that she discovered her love for science education and has never turned back. She has eleven years of classroom teaching experience and three years of experience coaching teachers. In addition to teaching and coaching, Mrs. Cousin has sponsored Fellowship of Christian Athletes, iSchool, Project Girls, Science Fair, and Science Olympiad. She also continued her education earning a Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership and Specialist of Education degree in Administration and Supervision from the University of West Georgia.
Mrs. Cousin spent five years in Fulton County at Elkins Pointe Middle School serving in many different capacities. She began as a sixth grade TAG science teacher and the science department chair. She also served as the professional learning facilitator, RTI behavior intervention coach, and TAG collaborative coach. During her time at Elkins Pointe, Mrs. Cousin discovered her passion for Project Based Learning and has committed to helping teachers discover authentic and relevant ways to teach. In 2017, Mrs. Cousin joined Hopewell Middle School as an Administrative Assistant with a focus in instructional coaching and quickly transitioned to Assistant Principal during her first year at HMS.
Mrs. Cousin is married to Demetrik Cousin. They have two sons, Eli and Benjamin. In her free time, she enjoys hiking and spending time with family in her hometown, Bowdon, Georgia.
